K-1 Global Announces World GP Finals to be Held in New York City

K-1 Global officials announced on their site last week that they will hold the K-1 World 2012 Grand Prix Finals in New York City come December with a one million dollar grand prize to the winner.  The total prize money for the winner of the Grand Prix, will total $1,500,000.

Last year, K-1, the home to some of the world’s finest kickboxers has had some financial issues and couldn’t host any of their major events.  Now under new ownership, K-1 has not only plans to continue their popularity in Japan, but in Europe, America, and all over Asia to serve as a global organization.

Here’s all the latest according to the K-1 website:

  • May 27th K-1 Global Tournament and Celebration at the Palacio Vista Aletre in Madrid, Spain
  • June-October – Tournaments with events in the U.S., Europe, and Asia
  • Early September – US Regional Tournaments
  • Later October – The K-1 World GP Final16 in Asia
  • November – K-1 World Max Final takes place in Asia
  • December – The K-1 World GP Final in New York City
