Breaking News: Jim Miller set to face Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX 3
The UFC on Fox returns this weekend for the UFC on Fox 2 event that features the main event of Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis in a Light Heavyweight title eliminator bout. And although the second event scheduled for the FOX network has yet to go down, it hasn’t stopped the UFC from announcing one of its showcase bouts for the UFC on Fox 3, which is scheduled for May 5th, in New Jersey. The bout in reference will highlight New Jersey native Jim Miller, who is coming off an amazing performance at last weekend’s UFC on FX 1 event, where he was able to choke out top lightweight contender Melvin Guillard in the first round.
Now that Miller is back in the title hunt, The UFC has decided to match him up against Nate Diaz, who also performed extremely well recently, as he broke the striking percentage record in his contest with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 141. Both Miller and Diaz have professed their desire to fight for the 155 lb title, which current champ Frankie Edgar will defend against Benson Henderson at UFC 144: Japan. The lightweight division was at an almost standstill last year before Edgar and Gray Maynard concluded their trilogy of fights, that saw Frankie emerge as the true king of the lightweights. If Edgar can defeat Henderson, or vice versa, the winner of Miller vs. Diaz could be next in line for a shot at the 155 lb strap. This fight announcement should make MMA fans worldwide incredibly happy.
